The Ganserts - Tyler, TX
Oh my lanta. Y’all. I’m obsessed with these two! So much so that I third wheeled their date to the Texas State Fair the day before their wedding. They have a tradition of going every year on opening day, which happened to be on their Wedding Eve this year. So I put on some comfy shoes, grabbed my camera, and met them at the gate to celebrate marriage with vegetarian corn dogs and funnel cake beer. Best decision ever.
The next day, we got down to more official business - getting Jennifer and Kevin married on Lake Tyler, which is where Kevin worked in high school. There are SO, SO many special details like that throughout their whole wedding that made this wedding so incredibly personal. I can’t list them all or you’d get bored and stop reading, which is not preferred. But are few examples were things like Jennifer wearing her grandmother’s ring, the ceremony order of service was art that Kevin drew of each of the wedding party, the cake topper and guest book (a backgammon set) were engraved with their favorite image from their engagement photos, and their beloved cat, Critter, was immortalized on koozies, which I still use on the reg.
But gosh, how can I pick a favorite memory from this day? A frontrunner is how Kevin alternated between showing off how his butt looked in his pants and grabbing Jennifer’s butt without shame. I support both of those things. Another one in the running is the most stupidly perfect sunset I’ve EVER seen, one that was so good that the couple was willing to miss out on the start of dinner to capture it. But…nope.
I think my most favorite memory was how, when the last group dance ended and the DJ asked guests to clear the room, the guests applauded the couple as Kevin held his bride while she cried the happiest tears. I’ve shot over 100 weddings and haven’t seen that happen and I’m not sure I’ll see it again. It is a true testament to how wonderful these people are and how deeply they are loved. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
